Milangela Morales Forehand

Milangela Morales is one of the most fluid new players on the WTA tour. When these videos were shot, she was ranked 415 in the world, but her ranking subsequently went even higher.

At the right is a Shockwave video of her forehand shot in May 2004 at a challenger tournament at the Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia. Below is a series of interactive images showing the stroke in detail. She hits from an open stance with the left shoulder out (Dokic Model). Because her build is very slim, she easily gets her elbow in front of the body plane. In general, someone with an average body type might have more difficulty doing this, so don't be discouraged if you find it difficult to duplicate.

Her rotation stage is used to bring her hitting shoulder forward by rotating her left shoulder backward. In doing this, she must turn her head or eyes to her right to look at the ball.
