High Speed Stability Exercise - Part II

In this lesson we present a second stability exercise to develop the skill needed to engage in high speed rallies.

In the video at the right, we compare two methods of controlling the racquet during a stroke. In the top illustration, the racquet is held very loosely. If you study the top illustration carefully you will see slight variations in the movement of the racquet. These movements will be the source of miss hits when operating at high speeds.

The illustration in the lower half of the video is a firmly executed swing. Note that the movement is very decisive and without any small fluctuations. This is the level of control needed to engage in high speed rallies.

We cannot stress enough the importance of stability when engaging in high speed rallies. You cannot hit a "Killer Forehand" consistently without this level of stability.

By placing a ball on a stick, you can do the exercise illustrated in the video above to study the stability of your stroke. Doing this a few minutes a day, three times a week will steadily improve your control of the racquet at high speeds.
