High Speed Stability Exercise Part 1
In order to have the stable control of the racquet at high stroke speeds needed to assure clean contact with the ball, it is necessary to develop both muscle strength and smoothness. Strength is needed to maintain the racquet speed while also maintaining fixed wrist and elbow positions. At high speeds, these two joints are nearly useless because the stroke takes place faster that the fastest human reflex time needed to use these joints. In order develop the right muscle strength and tone, we present the first of a series of high speed stability exercises. As with all exercises, proceed slowly and carefully at your own pace in order to avoid injury. EASI Tennis is not responsible for any injuries and these exercises are offered on a voluntary basis only. In the video above right, I am moving the racquet back and forth while keeping the wrist and elbow angles fixed. While doing this, be aware of how this "feels" since this may guide you during actual practice and play. |
