Type Two High Forehand Photo Study

In a previous lesson, we introduced the Type Two high forehand. In this discussion, we present photo studies of this stroke. Below left is the combined takeback-contraction position. The elbow is already in front of the body, requiring either the shoulders, hips, or legs to be used to position the upper body to enable this.

Below left is the rotation position. As seen there, the rotation may be slight. It may also be extreme if one chooses to emphasize the rotation phase. Below right is the rollover showing the transition from the contraction stage to the rotation stage. The forearm has pulled the racquet forward by the butt.

Below left is the acceleration stage, achieved by extending the forearm to raise the racquet head into the path of the ball. The strike follows by extending the racquet straight forward into the ball.
