Forehand Ballistic Reflex On Court

In this lesson we illustrate the ballistic reflex in action. In the illustration below we show how a slight movement using the ballistic reflex results in a large increase in ball speed. Note that the ball is being hit in the air before the bounce to aid in clarifying the ideas and to simplify the illustration, but a ground stroke grip is being used just as if the ball were hit from the baseline.

To execute this reflex movement, begin the squeeze of the racquet from the pinky finger upward.
