Contact and Power
Clean contact between the racquet and ball are essential for translating the racquet head speed into ball speed. The single most important element is clean contact is the linear interval near the strike. This is produced by making the racquet move in a straight line just as you strike the ball. This idea is illustrated in the figure below.
The most important point is that you must be able to move the racquet in a straight line for about 4 to 8 inches just as you are gong to hit the ball. There are many ways to do this as discussed on our website.
