Professional Highlights Irina is presently a tennis instructor in the Washington DC area. Irina occasionally travels with and assists her sister Elena Bovina (WTA ranking in the top 30). Irina played for American University as the number one seed and following her college career played on the WTA tour. In addition to coaching tennis, Irina is a professional sports model.

Resume Irina Bovina was born in Marseille (France) on January 9, 1980, in the family of the former water-polo player – member of the Russian National team in 1965-71 (European Champion in 1970, the second place at the Olympic Games in Mexico). She started playing tennis at the age of 7. In 1990 she become a member of the Russia Tennis Academy team (RTA) created by Shamil Tarpishev, the former Davis Cup Captain and Minister of Sports. In 1993 she was ranked in the top 10 best juniors in Russia and CIS (Former Soviet Union) countries, and in 1994 entered the top 5. In June-July, 1992, Irina came to the USA together with RTA in order to participate in the variety of tournaments. She obtained the following rewards: CC Invitational - girls of 14, singles - finalist Hidden Hills Jr. Classic - girls of 14, singles - finalist Georgia State Junior Open - girls of 14, singles - the 3rd place While being in the USA, Irina was invited to train at the Patricio Apey’s Tennis Academy. She accepted the invitation and later entered the Academy where she achieved the following results: 1993 Stevenson Memorial Jr. Open - girls of 16 – the winner IRC 18 and under Junior Clay Courts - girls singles - the 3rd place doubles - finalist Indiana State Junior Open - girls of 18, doubles - finalist - girls of 16, singles – finalist North Central Community Tennis Center Hoosier Open - girls of 16, singles – the winner All Russia Championship - girls of 16, singles – the winner 1994 Torneo Internacional de Tennis Venezuela, Valencia Copa Cotica (ITF) - girls of 16, doubles – finalist
